Appointment of a new Musical Director ...

From September 2015, Sawtry Chorale is delighted to have Angus Davidson as Musical Director.
A counter-tenor, Angus began his musical studies at the age of eight, first on the violin and in his local church choir, and later on the piano and oboe. In 1982 he won a choral scholarship to study music at Magdalen College, Oxford and it was there, with the encouragement of organist John Harper, that he realised his remarkable musicianship and distinctive countertenor voice showed great promise for a solo singing career.
After graduating from Oxford with BA in music in 1985, he went on to the Royal College of Music in London for more intensive vocal training and received his ARCM Diploma in 1986. Almost immediately he joined The Scholars Baroque Ensemble and enjoyed travelling and working with the ensemble until 2009. He was also on the music staff at Westminster Cathedral for 13 years until November 2005.
He now lives in Huntingdon with his American wife and 2 sons; teaches vocal technique and directs Ramsey Choral Society as well as Sawtry Chorale. Angus occasionally sings with Peterborough Cathedral Choir and also enjoys playing his violin, sailing, and singing British sea songs in baritone voice!

Come and Join Us ...

The choir meets every Wednesday evening in term time at 7.45 pm in Sawtry Methodist Hall, Green End Road, Sawtry. Subscriptions from 1st January 2016 are £40 per term but you can come to a couple of rehearsals to see if singing is for you before having to pay. Full-time students do not have to pay.

If you enjoy singing and are interested in joining Sawtry Chorale, please click on 'contact' or just come along to a rehearsal and meet us.

We are always looking for new members (particularly men). There are no auditions and you do not need to be able to read music. In a recent survey our members commented that they enjoyed the camaraderie and friendliness of the group. They also said that they enjoyed the challenge of learning something new and the achievement of singing a song well.

Rehearsals are fun and there are many lighthearted moments ... see the photo 'gallery'
